Explore Iconic Dive Sites

Our daily excursions typically include two guided dives at carefully selected locations, chosen based on daily weather conditions and diver experience levels.

Popular destinations include:

The Local Dive Sites (Sharm El Sheikh):

Along the southern tip of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula lies Sharm El Sheikh, home to many local dive sites that require less experience than the Straits of Tiran or Ras Mohammed, yet remain exceptionally rich in coral and marine life.

From north to south: Ras Ghamila, Ras Nasrani, Ras Bob, White Knight, Far Garden, Middle Garden, Near Garden, Sodfa, Tower, Amphoras, Turtle Bay, Paradise, Ras Umm Sid, Temple and Ras Katy.

With sandy plateaus and typically minimal drop-offs or strong currents, these sites are well suited to beginners and training courses. They’re still highly rewarding for experienced divers thanks to beautiful reefs and occasional encounters with larger marine life, including manta rays and whale sharks.

Ras Mohammed National Park:

Experience world-famous dramatic walls and unparalleled marine life.

Home to several signature sites, including Shark & Yolanda ReefsRas GhozlaniRas Za’atarMarsa Bareika, and Eel Garden—all celebrated for vibrant soft and hard corals, schooling fish, and dramatic drop-offs.

Straits of Tiran:

Discover breathtaking reefs like Jackson Reef and unique underwater landscapes.

Between Tiran Island and the Sinai coast, four reefs—JacksonWoodhouseThomas, and Gordon—offer rich coral gardens, plateaus, and walls, with frequent current-driven action and excellent visibility.

SS Thistlegorm (wreck):

One of the world’s most famous wreck dives, the SS Thistlegorm lies within easy reach of Sharm and regularly ranks among the top global dive experiences.

Built in Sunderland, UK, in 1940, the SS Thistlegorm was a British merchant ship classified as an armed freighter. She sailed from England around the Cape of Good Hope and through the Suez Canal bound for Alexandria, Egypt. On the night of 6 October 1941, during WWII, two Heinkel He 111 bombers dropped two 2.5-tonne high-explosive bombs that sank the vessel. In the 1950s, Jacques Cousteau located the wreck with help from local fishermen.

Today the cargo turns the site into an underwater museum. Inside the holds are Bedford trucks, Universal Carrier armoured vehicles, Norton 16H and BSA motorcycles, aircraft wings for Westland Lysanders, cases of ammunition, Lee-Enfield Mk III rifles, and Wellington boots. Outside, you’ll find four Bren gun carriers, LMS Stanier Class 8F steam locomotives with coal and water tenders, a 3-inch light anti-aircraft gun, and a 4-inch cannon from WWI, reportedly test-fired only once.

To reach this iconic “Old Lady”, boats leave early from Sharm El Sheikh; the crossing can take up to 3.5 hours. Most trips include two dives—one outside (orientation/swim-around) and one inside (guided penetration of the cargo holds). Currents can be strong and the average depth is ~24 m (generally deeper than 18 m). Divers should have confident buoyancy, hold a 30 m certification (Advanced Open Water or equivalent), and use Nitrox on both dives to extend no-decompression limits.

Beyond the history, marine life is abundant: nudibranchs, schooling jacks playing in the current, and crocodile fish resting on the decks bring the wreck to life.

Dahab (Canyon And The Bells – Blue Hole):

Dahab is a small town on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, approximately 80 km northeast of Sharm el-Sheikh. Dahab can be divided into three major parts. Masbat, which includes the Bedouin village of Asalah, in the north; Mashraba, south of Masbat, and Medina in the southwest.

Dahab is home to world-renowned dive sites, including the Blue Hole, the Bells (Blue Hole), and the Canyon. These sites are famous for their unique topography, dramatic drop-offs, and vibrant marine life, and are typically accessed by a short jeep ride north of Dahab town.

Diving in the Sharm El Sheikh region offers a diverse range of sites, each with specific requirements regarding diver certification, experience, and local rules.

General Requirements for All Divers:

  • Medical Fitness: All divers must fill out a medical questionnaire. Certain health conditions may require a doctor’s clearance.
  • Log Book & Refresher: Most centers require a logged dive within the last year. If not, a Scuba Review/refresher course is mandatory before boat or advanced dives.
  • Visas: A full Egyptian visa (not just the Sinai entry stamp) is required for certain trips, notably the
    SS Thistlegorm wreck.
  • Flying After Diving: A surface interval of 12 to 24 hours after your last dive is mandatory before flying.
Site-Specific Requirements by Area
Area/Site  Minimum Certification Max Depth Notes
Sharm El Sheikh (Local) Open Water (OW) 18m Many excellent sites (e.g.,The Temple, Ras Umm Sid) offer ideal conditions for all levels, with shallow reefs and drop-offs that an OW diver can explore.
OW (AOW recommended) 18m+ OW divers can enjoy shallow reef tops (e.g., Anemone City). However, an Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification is recommended (and often a minimum of 20 logged dives) due to potential strong currents and deeper walls.
OW (AOW recommended) 18m+ Similar to Ras Mohammed, sheltered areas are fine for OW divers. The renowned reef walls and strong currents in the straits (Jackson ReefThomas Reef) are best suited for AOW divers.
Advanced Open Water (AOW) 30m+ AOW certification and a minimum of 20 logged dives are mandatory as per local rules. The shallowest part is 16m, but the deck lies at 28m, and currents can be strong. Nitrox is highly recommended to maximize bottom time.

 (Blue Hole & Canyon)

OW (AOW required for main sites) Varies OW divers can explore the shallow “Saddle” of the Blue Hole (7m) and the lagoon entrance to the Canyon. AOW certification is required to safely dive the main Canyon chamber (30m) and the Bells-to-Blue Hole drift.
In summary: While an Open Water certification allows access to many beautiful areas, an Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent) is the de facto requirement for exploring the most iconic and rewarding dive sites in the region, such as the Thistlegorm wreck and the deep sections of the Dahab
 sites.
