What to Expect :

The DSD experience typically takes a few hours to a full day, depending on the number of dives included, and generally follows these steps:

Duration:

1 Day

Briefing & Safety Orientation:
A PADI Professional will explain basic safety guidelines, procedures, hand signals, and how the scuba gear works.

Confined Water Practice:

You’ll enter a pool or a calm, shallow water environment to practice fundamental skills and get comfortable breathing underwater. Key skills often include mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control.

Open Water Dive (Optional):

If you choose the open water dive option and your instructor feels you are ready, you will go on a supervised dive in the ocean or another open water environment. The maximum depth for this dive is 12 meters (40 feet).

Key Details Prerequisites:

Minimum age is 10 years old.

Participants should be in reasonable physical health.

You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should be comfortable in the water and able to maintain yourself at the surface.

A medical questionnaire must be completed, and some pre-existing medical conditions may require written approval from a physician before diving.

Equipment:
All necessary scuba equipment is typically provided by the dive center.

Certification:

The DSD is not a certification course, but the skills and experiences gained can be credited toward the PADI Open Water Diver certification if you enroll in the full course within 12 months.
